The Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts (DCITA), on behalf of the Australian Government, is coordinating the development of a National E-Security Awareness Week which will take place in the week beginning 23rd October 2006. The Week aims to heighten awareness of online security issues and measures across Australia and inform the public of useful websites and practical tips for safety online. The overearching theme for the week will be to “stay smart online” with four underlying themes:-

  • How to protect and secure your computer;
  • Transacting securely online;
  • How to identify online security threats; and
  • Being family safe online.

DCITA is putting together a number of resources including template presentations, information brochures, postcards and posters that can be available in centres.
