Computer Classes February 2008 March 6, 2008

Posted by ctcoberon in Uncategorized.

Weekly computer courses at the CTC have now restarted for 2008, and heres what’s on:

  • Mondays its Genealogy with Lynn Agland (1.30pm to 3.30pm),
  • Tuesdays its Computers for Beginners with Maree Arrow (1.30pm to 3.30pm),
  • Wednesday its Computer Basics with Julie Stott (2pm to 4pm),
  • Thursday its Basic Computer Software and Devices with yours truly (1.30pm to 3.30pm).

Also, during the year we will be conducting a number of Special Interest Courses like

  • Digital Photography,
  • MYOB,
  • Microsoft Office,
  • Linux and various other courses depending upon what the community requests.

The price to attend any one of our weekly computer courses is still only $5, and yes, we do have some vacancies available in all classes.

The major change to the three “Basic Computer Courses” conducted by Maree Arrow, Julie Stott and myself, is that, we are now using an online tutorial website, which requires access to a high speed Internet connection, because it uses a large number of instructional videos. Plus, if one is fortunate enough to have such a connection at home, one can access this very same website, to revise all that one has learnt during the past week. The subject matter covered includes a basic understanding of IT through to how to use and configure your operating system and how to use various software applications to their full advantage. Applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook, including how to Touch-Type.

During the past few weeks a number of people have accessed the services of the CTC i.e.  Central West Community Health, Bathurst Employment Service and we have had upwards of 40 tourists and local community members who have used the computers to access their emails, and another 5 local community members who brought their computers in to use our high speed Internet access to update their computer’s software, and finally, we had a local community member hire our digital video camera to film a wedding.

Remember, the CTC besides being “A Centre of Learning” it is also a centre where one can call upon a large number of other services including the hiring of various hardware i.e. Digital Camera,  Digital Video Camera, Tripod, Data Projector, Screen and most important of all the hiring of our Computer Training Room and our well equipped Conference Room.

Quote: If you are at the point where you fully understand how your computers works it is time to update.
