  • Do not download any software until you have read all about what it can offer, and then, only download and install software that you will use on a regular basis, and be mindful of ransomware.
  • Ransomware is a type of malware used for data kidnapping, an exploit in which the attacker encrypts the victim’s data and demands payment for the decryption key.
  • A ransomware program can be installed from an e-mail attachment, an infected program, or a compromised or malicious website or it can be disguised as a security program i.e. Smart Antivirus 2009.
  • Free software is an excellent deal, but only if it is useful.
  • It does a computer no good to be loaded with programs that are not used (just because they are free) it can slow the computer down.
  • Importantly, check before you download any software that your computer has the necessary system requirements.
