Computers users beware February 25, 2009

Posted by ctcoberon in Uncategorized.

There has been a number of large downloads coming through (i.e. Microsoft Office Live Add-in, Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847), Apple QuickTime or Apple QuickTime with iTunes) and depending upon which operating system (i.e. Windows XP or Vista) you are using the download load will vary. For example, Micrsoft .NET Framework download for Windows XP can be as large as 248MB, but for Windows Vista it can be around 50MB and this because Windows Vista comes with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0, whereas Windows XP does not, hence the larger download.

First, DO NOT under any circumstances attempt to download and install these updates if you only have “Dialup”.

Second, if you have a minimal broadband account i.e. with a 500MB limit, be careful, you do not go over your limit and incur a penalty i.e. extra charges.

If you are one of these users the CTC can help, just bring in your computer, and for a small fee we will download and install these updates for you.
